1. Create Your Tracked Pretty Link:
2–3 min.
- In your WordPress left sidebar, click Pretty Links (or Pretty Links > Add New).
- Fill in the core fields:
- Redirection: Leave as 307 (Temporary) or 301 (Permanent). (307 is ideal if the destination target might change later).
- Target URL: Enter the full destination website URL where you want the user to land (e.g., the client's external website:
- Pretty Link (Slug): Set a clean, identifiable URL path (e.g.,
go/coast-acupuncture-slider or recommends/client-ad).
- Title: Give it a clear descriptive name you can spot immediately during reporting (e.g., Coast Acupuncture - Soliloquy Banner Ad).
- Click Update or Publish on the right side.
Verification: Copy your new Pretty Link (e.g., [https://yourdomain.co.nz/go/coast-acupuncture-slider](https://yourdomain.co.nz/go/coast-acupuncture-slider)), paste it into an incognito browser tab, and ensure it seamlessly redirects to the client's website.
2. Insert the Link into Your Ad or Slider:
1 min.
- Open your ad placement settings (such as your Soliloquy Slider slide settings, widget, or page banner).
- Replace the direct client website address with your new Pretty Link URL.
- Save/Update the slider or banner.
Verification: Click the banner directly on your live website front-end. It should route through your site and land on the client's destination URL.
3. View & Track Clicks:
Reporting Check.
- Quick View (Total vs Unique Clicks):
- Go to Pretty Links > Pretty Links in your WordPress dashboard.
- Find the link in the table. The Clicks column displays two numbers (e.g.,
45 / 38), showing Total Clicks / Unique Clicks.
- Detailed Breakdown (Dates & Referrers):
- Go to Pretty Links > Clicks (or click directly on the click counter number next to the link).
- View the date-by-date activity chart and the log showing the exact timestamp and referring source.
Verification: Click your test link once, refresh Pretty Links > Clicks, and confirm the click tally increases by 1.
