Linku2 School Holidays Site Set Up

Linku2 School Holidays is a keyword site.

What this means is keyword sites operate around Regions and Districts across New Zealand.

New Zealand Regions

When referring to any Linku2 websites there are 2 terms to keep in mind –

  • Backend – where all the site work is complete and actions taken and managed by the Licensee, Managers and any contractors
  • Frontend – What a site visitor (member of the public) sees when looking at the site online

For the purposes of division for our Linku2 sites keyword sites are divided into -

  • Regions
  • Districts

We have based our Regions and Districts as follows –

  • From the Frontend user interface from which site visitors view the site – There are 16 Regions
  • From the Backend site management – The above 16 Regions are further sub-divided into 27 Regions (eg Auckland becomes 2 Regions being North Auckland and South Auckland).
  • Regions both from the frontend and backend are further sub-divided into 64 Districts, eg

Auckland in the frontend has 8 Districts being -

  • Rodney, Hibiscus Coast, North Shore, West Auckland, Auckland Central, Hauraki Gulf Islands, East Auckland and South Auckland.

Auckland in the backend still has 8 Districts but is sub-divided into -

  • North Auckland: Rodney, Hibiscus Coast, North Shore and West Auckland; and
  • South Auckland: Auckland Central, Hauraki Gulf Islands, East Auckland and South Auckland)

The reasons for the greater number of Regions in the backend site management from 16 to 27 are –

  • To allow for more targeted advertising for clients
  • To make advertising more relevant for the end user (eg they don’t want a North Shore holiday programme if they live in Papakura!)
  • To allow for greater income for Licensee
  • To ensure a Region isn’t too large an area for a Regional Manager to cover

School holidays promote two types of activities -

  • School holiday programmes, eg sKids April holiday programmes, National Youth Theatre holiday workshops
  • Generic family activities which run all year, eg Snowplanet, Chipmunks, minigolf, etc

In New Zealand there are 4 x school holiday periods over a year consisting usually of -

  • 2 weeks in April
  • 2 weeks in July
  • 2 weeks in October
  • 6-7 weeks over Christmas and January

Frontend User Interface Regions (on site) - 16
