Explore keywords by -
Searching the source and content of their page
Choose 1-2 clearly important short-tail keywords
Download your SEO Support Worksheets at this link and enable editing
Enter your keywords in the Report by Keyword spreadsheet
In the row below add the URL if you are looking for a particular prospect
Then go to Google search
Enter your selected keywords one at a time in Google with Keywords Everywhere extension active
Record top 8 organic listed businesses by copying their link and pasting in your spreadsheet
Note any paid/sponsored listings too (and note they are sponsored)
Then record Keyword Everywhere data from the right column in Google in the keyword row into columns X, Y, Z and AA
Copy the "Related Keywords" and paste in column AB (paste as links so you can check out if you want)
Copy the "People also searched for" words and paste in column AC (again paste as links)
Copy the "Long-tail keywords" and paste in column AD (again as links)
If this is a really positive client potential you can load the metrics but this costs credits which you need to buy
Then open a new Google search tab and enter the company name if you are looking for a particular business
Record the Keyword Everywhere data below their Google listing, eg Moz DA, etc in the spreadsheet in columns D to K (get the full stats by hovering over one of the links)
Then also complete the Keywords Everywhere ranking stats for the actual domain search in columns X to AA
Go to spreadsheet column L and go to the link for GT Metrix page speed, make sure you are logged in and settings (accessed from right column) are set with location as Sydney, Australia - enter the site URL and test and record result in column L
Test site for both Rich Results Support and Mobile Friendly Testing with links from columns Q and R and add results in spreadsheet
Test site for schema structured data (column T), Markup Validation (column U) and Google Inspect (right click on the webpage | Inspect) for errors or issues (column V)
Then go to the Google Keyword Planner (column AE) - take your main keywords both short and long tail and enter in planner. Check the average monthly search numbers, competition level, YoY change and select any 2-3 that stand out. Add details in column
Run Keyword Density checker (column AF) and just check to see if the site has a particularly high volume of keywords you should focus on
Run Plagiarism check if there are blog items or long text segments (column AH)
Run your text through the Flesch Readability Score (column AJ)
Go to 8 Point SEO Audit report and download and save a copy in either a client folder or the SEO reports folder
Open a new word document
Go to the site home page and right click | View page source
Find the meta data and copy the title and description into your word document
Then analyse the content and score it in the SEO Audit report - note action items in the report
