Uploading All Import Business Listings

There are two separate uploads that need to be done. This is because if you try and upload all fields together detected custom fields will override your ACF defined fields.

Use your business listings template "Business-Listings-Upload-Template" and fill in all fields - note some have formulas and will populate automatically when you add content in some of the other fields. Make sure you save your spreadsheet as a CSV.

Upload No 1

Go to All Import -

  • New Import | Upload a file
  • Select your CSV file
  • Existing Items
  • Select "Businesses"
  • Continue to Step 2
  • Briefly check the content to imported and check it's correct
  • Continue to Step 3
  • Scroll to the bottom and select the drop down arrow by templates and select -
    • Directory Listings-June23-use
  • Just open the tab "Advanced Custom Fields Add-On" and check it has populated your "Directory Listings" fields
  • Continue to Step 4
  • Settings should be -
    • Import by title
    • Create new businesses from records newly present in this import file - tick
    • Update existing businesses if their data in this import file has not changed - Update all data
    • ONLY IF THIS IS A TOTAL UPDATE OF ALL RECORDS - then you also tick Remove or modify businesses that are not present in this import file
      • You will then tick "Remove or modify all businesses on this site that are not present in this import file - this will get rid of old or closed businesses
      • Send the businesses to trash and change status to Draft (you can always then go and check this was done correctly and if you want delete from there)
    • REMEMBER if you are only adding new businesses or updating some NOT to tick this remove button otherwise all your business listings not in your database you're uploading will be removed!!!!
    • Continue
    • Confirm and Run Import
  • Then just go and check a few businesses both in the front and back end to check all done correctly.

Upload No 2

Then go to do a second Import as follows -

  • New Import | Upload a file
  • Select your CSV file
  • Existing Items
  • Select "Businesses"
  • Continue to Step 2
  • Briefly check the content to imported and check it's correct
  • Continue to Step 3
  • Scroll to the bottom and select the drop down arrow by templates and select -
    • SEO Upload template-June23
  • Just open the tabs "Custom Fields" and check it has populated your SEO fields (there are only 7 fields for keywords, meta and social, FB and Twitter) also open the tab "Taxonomies, Categories, Tags" and the tags box should be ticked with each business has multiple tags (no other boxes should be ticked)
  • Continue to Step 4
  • Settings should be -
    • Import by title
    • Create new businesses from records newly present in this import file - tick
    • Update existing businesses if their data in this import file has not changed - Choose which data to update
      • Under this Custom Fields should be ticked with - update only these custom fields, leave the rest alone and your 7 custom fields listed in the box
      • Also the Taxonomies box should be ticked with - Update only these taxonomies, leave the rest alone and your post_tag listed in the box
    • Do not tick anything else
    • Continue
    • Confirm and Run Import
  • Then just go and check a few businesses both in the front and back end to check SEO data added in back end and nothing has broken in the front end.
